Rain Cloud in a Jar
With all of us being stuck at home and looking for fun educational things to do with our kids, I have something that my daughter really enjoyed while learning as well.
Let’s do a hands on weather experiment and make a rain cloud in a jar.
Let’s do a hands on weather experiment and make a rain cloud in a jar.

I love this experiment because of the fun color aspect and the little mess it has with simple items you have around the house. This only involves 3 ingredients: water, shaving cream and food coloring.

First start by getting a jar. Next add water (air) to the bottom with a thick layer of shaving cream (clouds) at the top just below the rim of the jar. Then start adding drops of blue food coloring (rain) to the shaving cream. Have your kids make predictions: how many drops will it take before the “rain” falls into the water.
You can make a chart and see how many drops you predict and how many it actually took!
